What is the California Cup

The California Cup is a significant soccer tournament in California, and there are mainly the following two versions:

California Cup Co-hosted by NorCal Premier and SoCal Soccer League:

Inception: It started in 2022, jointly organized by NorCal Premier and SoCal Soccer League.

Participating Teams: The top two teams from the U9 - U12 age groups in Northern and Southern California qualify via the NorCal and SoCal State Cups. Champions and finalists in the top division of each state cup can automatically participate.

Competition Format: It includes a group stage, followed by a final and a 3rd place match. Teams play two group games on Saturday, with the state cup final serving as the first group stage match, and then a final or 3rd place match on Sunday.

Venue Rotation: It is hosted in Northern California by NorCal Premier in odd-numbered years and in Southern California by SoCal Soccer League in even-numbered years.

California Cup Hosted by Northern California Chinese Soccer Federation:

Nature: It's an open tournament with the highest level organized by the Northern California Chinese Soccer Federation annually.

Competition Time: For example, the 2023 edition was held on September 2 - 3, and the 2024 one took place on August 31 - September 1. 

Participating Teams: It not only gathers the strongest teams from the Northern California Chinese Soccer Federation but also invites teams from Vietnam, Japan, and other regions. In 2024, a total of 14 teams competed in three divisions.
